Yeah... I know, I know

I've been slack lately.
Well, not exactly "slack", because I've been working my arse off... but I sure as heck haven't been posting anything lately, have I?

And I haven't been reading blogs either - which to tell you the truth has made me kind of sad.
Well, the whole not posting and missing out on what y'all have had to say has been pulling at me, and making my heart hurt, but I just haven't had the time.
Honestly.

We've had school holidays going on here, and the house has been packed to the rafters, my patience has been getting a workout, the house is a mess, the dishes are piled up, I desperately need a hair cut, and it seems like I haven't had a single moment to myself in weeks now.
Well, that's probably because I haven't had a single moment to myself in weeks.

Between 6am starts and 7:30pm finishes, as well as having my young lad staying with me, I've had kids underfoot for nigh onto 2+ weeks now.
And as much as I love the little boogers, and I know that I'm blessed to do what I do for a living, I've come to the conclusion that children are highly over-rated.
They take up all your time and never leave you a moment to just sit and breathe.

So... after finishing work yesterday - knowing that I now have 2 lovely days off - I actually rang the old guy and asked him not to come around.
Just so that I could sit and savor the silence.

Which I did.
Because he talks too much.

So, I just sat in my chair like a big ol' lump, breathed deeply, and just thought 'thoughts'.
Like what to have for dinner, since I didn't need to consider anyone but myself for a change.
(Dinner ended up being Cobb salad, made with my very own home-grown stuff.
Well, mostly anyway.)

Aren't these tiny little 'maters just about the purtiest things you ever did see? I thought for a while there, that with the extreme heat we had earlier in the week, that I may have lost my cute little Tomato Berries (they wilt easily) but with plenty of water and a cooler place to sit, they came right back.
(not my photo, because my camera batteries are flat and I can't find the dang re-charger)

The other tomatoes are doing good as well, and I've picked a few of them too, in the last few days. There is absolutely NO comparison taste-wise when it comes to store bought and home grown! The basil and oregano is doing well, as are the cukes and corn and all sorts of peppers, but the chives are the only thing breaking my heart this year.

You know... it just dawned on me.... I said earlier that I have 2 whole days off, but I just remembered that I actually have Monday off as well. (remind me to ring my day care parents and tell 'em - because I forgot to!)

I've got an appointment for a root canal on Monday, for this stinkin' tooth that's been giving me hell for the last month. So I'll actually have THREE whole days off!

I don't know what I'm gonna do with myself. No...wait! I DO know what I'm going to do with myself! I'll probably catch up on the housework, (ugh) catch up on some lovely Nana naps... and hopefully get some blog reading in.

I've missed you all... something fierce!

Welcome back! I'm sure I'm not the only one who's missed you.

suggestions for your 3 days off: A bottle of wine, a good book, some trash TV or movies, a nice hot bath, and some more of that wine. You'll be a new woman come Tuesday!

Thought you might have slipped on some Crisco and knocked yourself arse over teakettle.

I've never seen Tomato Berries - they are so darn cute. I'll have to check and see if I can get seeds here in the states.

I've been terrible about blogging lately, both posting and blog surfing. Shame on me!

Get some rest. Spend some "tater" time. Enjoy your maters!

I've missed reading your posts too, but I totally understand why you had no time with all those little ones underfoot. Enjoy your time off and I second everybody elses ideas about doing things just for you. I like to take long walks by myself when I have alone time, but I forget to do that when I get real busy.

Kids are really over-rated aren't they? So are school hols IMHO - glad they are nearly over.

We planted out a vege/herb garden a few weeks ago from seeds - it was doing so well until the heat yesterday when the dog decided she needed to cool down and wriggled past the fence and DUG A BIG HOLE in my patch - not happy!! Your vege patch sounds wonderful :)

I've missed you too! It is nice to have quiet time after being bombarded with noises! My youngest is at the age where he has to tell me everything, so all the time he's saying "ma, ma, ma, ma". It drives me insane and I am thinking about changing my name!

I hope your tooth pain will all be gone, I know how aggravating that can be!

Hey, do I know what you mean about being too busy!!! I'm in the same busy boat! Always running to catch up, so I can empathize. But it was good reading a post from you again.

Take it easy--especially after your root canal! Don't worry, we're always here waiting for you! :-)

LOL, kids are over rated, ROFL!
Nice 'maters girl I LOVE & miss home grown tomatoes like I grew by the bushel in TX. AZ, just too dang hot.
As for dental woes, we have spent a veritable FORTUNE on mine & they still haunt me, it's never ending, Kate. Praying your root canal brings blessed relief.

I'm MIA myself and have honestly loved every minute of it. Did I say that outloud? But I miss everyone, too. It sure was nice just to live and not worry about blogging though. Felt like playing hookey!

Glad to catch up with you and hope the root canal went well.

WV: Noccan - noccan wood that you and I will see more of each other out here.
