Who ever said I was PC?

My friend Helen sent this to me... and it just hit a nerve.

See, I had another carer around for coffee the other day, and she spied my box of Christmas decorations sitting by the table.
She then asked me if I planned on using the big window banner that says "Merry Christmas",
and I told her I was.

She then went into this whole big spiel about how - here in daycare at least - that we're supposed to say "Happy Holidays", instead of "Merry Christmas'.
Rather than offend anyone, don't ya know...

And I told her that while we were so busy 'not offending' other people, that I was being offended myself... by having to deny my beliefs.
Because see, I believe in Christ. (and he believes in me)
I celebrate his coming into the world... because I'm a believer.

It doesn't matter to me what you believe, but please... don't tell me to deny Christ.
Because I won't.
I don't cram my beliefs down anyones throat... and I sure as hell don't tell them that they're wrong for believing in whatever it is that they believe in.

But around here? In my own home?
Jesus is the 'reason for the season'... at least in this household.

We've been told not to say "Ho Ho Ho", because some people might find it offensive.
Too bad...

We've been told to say "Father Christmas" instead of Santa Claus...
Too bad.

Hey, you can say what you want to say, and you can believe what you want to believe...
because I'm easy that way.
I certainly don't ask anyone to deny their beliefs, just because I may not necessarily believe the same thing they do.
I "judge not".

But around here, Christ is King.

Here Here! I work in the university setting and I'm sick of "Happy Holidays" and the "Holiday Break"! It's Christmas and I for one say Merry Christmas! I too used to run a daycare in my home and every Christmas season I'd have a get together for the kids and their parents. 1 parent was Jewish and she was very happy to come and cook Jewish food for our gathering and I'm glad she did...after all my Saviour was born a Jew. I just wish people would stop trying to get us Christians to hush...we don't make them hush!

The very, VERY worst? At the Christmas Tree Farm, they say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas." WTF????? WTFR'in'F???? Are you selling Christmas trees or Hanakuh Bushes or some kind of Buddha Bushes maybe? Gimme a freakin' break. I'm not even all that devout, but I'm so sick of all this politically correct bullshit that I could just scream.

I have to agree with you also. Enough is enough for Pete's sake. When are we going to stop trying to be so obliging to everyone but ourselves. If it was good enough for our forefathers it's good enough for us!!

Yeah - Christmas with a capital 'C'!
Jesus IS the reason for the season and Father Christmas still visits our house! I totally agree, Kate.

Cheers - Joolz

Good for you! I heard on the news yesterday about a boy in Dallas. He had been preparing for the school's program. He was to sing I'll Be Home for Christmas. The school told him he had to change the lyrics to I'll be home for WINTER! They didn't want to offend anyone. Are you freakin' kiddin' me! The boy's mother went to the school and raised a stink. They backed down and finally said they would leave it alone because of copyright laws.

I am so with you! I never claimed to be pc.

I know at our school, Good Friday has become Spring Holiday. They are still calling it Christmas break, but I'm sure that will change too.

When did PC become such a "thing"? I am with ya. Yell Merry Christmas from the darn rooftops!

Amen Sistah! You know I agree with you 100%! And I like Michaela Dunn Leeper's version of PC--I've never been and never will be pc (politically correct), but I certainly have and always will be PC (Praising Christ)!

Stand your ground, Tatersmama! And I'll stand there right alongside of you!

Hey! I'm Jewish and I say Merry Christmas to all of my friends who celebrate Christmas. I wrap gifts in Christmas wrapping paper and put them under their trees. Otherwise, I wouldn't get to celebrate Christmas, and I believe in celebrating every holiday out there.

Get this: My mom's family never allowed a Christmas tree, but Santa Claus always brought the Hanukkah gifts. So, my mom still has a Hanukkah party every year and I dress up as Santa and bring in the gifts. But there's no tree and we light the Menorah.

Every year I say I'm going to celebrate Kwanza, too. I just never remember to actually do it. But this year I'm at least going to try to prepare some Kwanza food.

I say celebrate everything you can and this whole "being PC" is for the birds. The cuckoo birds.

YAY! I am so proud of you!!!
It aint easy being politically incorrect! But we gotta do it! BTW: When some ignorant fool says happy holidays to me, my response is "Yes, Happy Holy Days to you too!" Gets them every time! What did they think it was? Hollydays? Christmas blessings to you in your down under summer! Karyn!

What a great post. We all need to unite. I NEVER say happy holidays to anyone, even though Karyn is correct and it is derived from holy day. It is Merry or Blessed Christmas all the way. When we stop backing down to all of them and stand our ground, we will stop losing ground.
Hey, the hats, it isn't to early to get one or two and put them away for July:)

Amen!!
I will be saying Merry Christmas this year and every year after, just as I always have.
So what if I offend someone, they offend me by reminding me to say Happy Holidays.
I am tired of being told I have to respect "everyone's" wishes.
WHAT ABOUT MY WISHES?!

Oh, I love you! Agree with every single word. x

Well said Tatersmama, I couldn't agree more.

I have always called the big red man Father CHRISTmas...probably has something to do with being Australian. If it wasnt for Jesus there wouldn't be any Happy Holidays.

Hope you are keeping well,

Tania

Oh my dearest Tater, I couldn't agree more! The only C word I'll be using today is....Christ - who is the reason for the season.

Amen! Amen! Amen! I get so tired of it. I used to work at a bank. I said Merry Christmas to everyone. Almost all of them loved it. Then I said Merry Christmas to this indian guy who barely spoke english. He didn't love it so much, but I figured who cares? He came to a place that celebrates christmas didn't he? If he doesn't like it, he can go back to india. Not trying to be mean, just saying relax dude--it doesn't hurt anything to smile and say thank you!
