Down time... in more ways then one.

Since the school holidays are now well and truly behind me, I was sort of looking forward to a slow and gentle slide into the next weekend... because next weekend is my weekend 'off'.
And I was/am seriously ready for a much needed break, let me tell you!

Ahhh... Heavenly!
Time to sleep in... to read books... and just sort of potter around the house and garden.
Maybe even find the time - or the inclination - to walk around the lake a time or two.

Only things happened.

I'm now off all this week, and maybe even into the next... or beyond.
Yeah, I now have my "time off", alright... but it's because of circumstances that I wish I weren't going through.

See, the final couple of days of school holidays, I didn't feel too well.
Well, to tell you the truth, I didn't really feel bad, and I did have some intermittent pain in my lower left abdomen.
Now to be honest it was nothing really bad... but more irritating than anything, I suppose.

But certainly not worrisome.
I just figured maybe I needed a little more fiber in my diet - which is just a nice way of saying constipation.
Because I hate saying "constipation".
Especially in relation to me.

But then add to that, noticing blood in my urine, and I just figured that with Monday off (well, a half day anyway) I might just pop into the doctors and see what was going on.

So I walked in there all fat, dumb and happy... and walked out decidedly less so.
Oh, I'm still fat and dumb, I can assure you.
That hasn't changed.

But happy?
Not so much.

See, when the doctor palpated my abdomen, he found some exceedingly tender spots.
Tender enough, that he had to duck when I just about knee'd him in the head a time or two.
And whilst ducking, he also found a small mass that concerned him.

And me too, of course, since I feel basically fine and dandy and I certainly don't feel like I should have a small mass, especially when I'm feeling pretty darn good for the middle-aged shape I'm in..
Well, maybe I'm a little more tired than usual... but I just put that down to the school holidays and the long hours I had just put in... so it just seemed sort of understandable.

So, being somewhat concerned after poking and prodding me, he made me pee in a bottle.
Not once... but twice.

And come to find out, he saw stuff he didn't like looking at.

Now, at this point, he doesn't really know what we're dealing with... but he must have his suspicions, based on the foot-long list of tests he wanted run.
Immediately.
But did he share those suspicions with me?
Nope.
He will though, once the results of the blood tests, urine tests and ultrasound all come in - sometime next week.

But he did pat my hand, before I left.
Which kind of worries me more than the "other stuff"... know what I mean?

So, I have all this week off, and possibly the next as well.. but this really isn't what I had in mind. Oh no...
This is definitely not what I had in mind at all.

I'm sorry to read all this. You will certainly be in my prayers until we hear the good news that you're fine and dandy - and even after that. Sometimes doctors and their silent treatment put you through much worse stuff than if they would just spit out what they're thinking. Take care and let us all know how you're doing.

Oh Kate, hope everything works out for you. Oh and maybe he has a pee fetish to make you pee twice, hee, hee!

I do know what you mean and I know that doctors are not going to tell you anything until they see the whole picture. Try not to worry... easy to say, but don't stew until you have something to stew about.

It's probably "stress" balls clogging your system. Take a deep breath and go for a walk.

I hope everything will be ok.
Waiting for test results just sucks doesn't it?

Thinking of you

I hate waiting for test results! I accomplish next to nothing and I feel kind of melancholy or sad. I hope that this just passes and might be a bladder infection or something like that. Praying for you. Don't be afraid. God has a hold of your hand.

Oh my little sweet potato - I'm on my knees and sending lots of prayers.
Please let us know when your test results. Wish I could just hoop on a plane and come take care of you!

GAH been there and hate that! OK I was having my routine girl physical you know the kind. I was lying flat on my back when the doctor said he felt a MASS in my abdomen. Good thing I was lying flat. If I would have been wired up to some of those gizmos it would have showed the palpitations that were almost a heart attack. Nuts! For me whenever there is a question, I am always dying of cancer, it's never anything else. I just totally freak out. So I scheduled the first trip to the OR and had my BENIGN ovarian tumors and ovaries removed. Just sayin.

Constipation stinks.

did I make ya laugh?

and seriously Tater I will be prayin for you. For peace while you wait and for wisdom.

My friend, don't ya just hate the old "hand patting routine"?

Seriously, I certainly hope that everything turns out just fine for you!

Keeping you in my thoughts until all is well!

Oh, that's crappy for you. Waiting for results is the worst bit. Fingers and toes crossed for you that everything is fine and you're feeling better real soon.

Blessings - Joolz

Aw, Katie! I hope it's something simple like an infection; I've had a crap-ton of those. Let us know what you find out; you're loved around the world, girl!

Kate! I'm sorry I'm just now reading this and finding out about your sucky visit to the doctor!!!! Maybe you have a kidney stone, maybe you have a bladder infection, maybe a hundred things that don't mean anything serious. (Please, LORD.) I'm so glad you went and I'll be praying up a storm that all is well and whatever it is gets fixed with as little pain and problem as possible.

I'll be waiting and checking and I hoping good friends (and yes, even COL) are taking care of you and giving you all the love everyone here wishes we could.

Love and toast and beans and maybe even a salad to you, dear friend. XoXXXoOOOxOxX.

I'll be thinking of you this week and hoping the doctor has worried you unnecessarily. Think of it as a little break to recharge the batteries until you know any more.

Will keep you in my thoughts...doctors suck when it comes to keeping secrets like that but I guess it's better to know what you're dealing with for sure. Now you can take several walks around the lake!

Oh, Katie! When I have some spare time to read blogs, yours is one of the first ones I check. I know that when I read your blog, I will be highly entertained and will laugh a lot. But, I'm NOT laughing tonight! I'm praying instead!

Hugs, dear friend.
