That in addition to the USA turning 234 years old today, the 50-star American flag is officially 50 YEARS OLD today, as well!
Law directs that a newly-designed U. S. flag becomes official on the first July 4th observance following the admission of a new state.
Hawaii was admitted as the 50th state on Aug. 21, 1959.

Great stuff!! Hope it was a brilliant 4th of July. My nephew is now living in New York and was very excited at the weekend of celebrations.
Great minds think alike and post excerpts from the Declaration of Independence on the appropriate day! Glad you remembered - of course you did - and hope you'll be home for another soon!

Thanks to Robynn, I've discovered your fabulous blog--great stuff. I would love to visit Aussie Land, but emphasis is on visit. I love living near my grandchildren. The July 4th celebrations are really great with the picnics, fireworks, music, friends and family.
