Quality control...

*sigh*
It's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it... right?

Not that I'm expecting hoards of little Bat Man's (bat men?) or Fairy Princesses - because here in Oz, Halloween is still a pretty novel concept to most.

But still... I like to be prepared, you know what I mean?

I had slightly more little Trick or Treaters last year, (maybe 6 or 7?) but for several years before that, I only had 3 teenage boys.
Boys who would come around several times in the one night, all dressed up as ... Well, who knows what.
But they were tryin'.
They really were.
And I think their efforts needed to be rewarded.

Last year though, it was just the one teen aged boy on his own, and his voice had deepened to the point where he sounded like a man... But his eyes still lit up like a little boys, when he saw the candy.
And it did my heart good.

But, have you noticed that some things never change?

45+ years may have gone by since I dressed up as Casper the Friendly Ghost or a Leprechaun... and the colors and flavors may have changed slightly over time, but for every 10 red or blue or green or pink Tootsie Pop, there's only one chocolate one!

So I saved the "brown ones" for myself.

I can't have the little monsters arguing over the chocolate ones, now can I?
Somebody might get their feelings hurt.

And Spider here?

This year, Spider's going out dressed as *The Blob*

Happy Halloween, ghouls and boys!

I think Spider is going to make sure that no one gets more than their fair share.

The chocolate ones are the best! I can't blame you for saving them! Mmm, now, I want some.

We're way up on the top of a hill, behind a gate, and don't get many trick or treaters. Last year it was 3 young teenaged girls, and they were delighted with the big helpings of candy I put in their bags. Growing up happens too fast, and I don't mind indulging teenagers a little bit, as long as they're not obnoxious! And Spider is waiting for his very politely, now, isn't he?

LOVE your pictures Kate. I think Spider should pass out the treats, though it does look like he wants them all to himself. No matter, I aint afraid of no ghosts, or goblins or Spiders and would happily crawl to your house on my hands and knees for a couple of those Tootsie Pops!

We actually saw three kids dressed up earlier (at about 1:00!), but no trick or treaters here, nor have we ever had any, in seven years. :-( I think most parents poo-poo it here in VIC, moreso than they do in the Sydney area.

Hope you DO get some ghosts and goblins as I can see you smiling on the inside just thinking about it!

I have always liked the chocolate ones best too. I hope you get some kids at your door. We don't get any at ours. We live too far out of town and the houses are too far apart with long driveways. They would be worn out after 3 houses and not enough candy. LOL

Spider is a gorgeous cat with beautiful markings and the candy looks good, too. =)

MUST.GET.CANDY.OUT.OF.HOUSE.HAUNTING.ME......AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! You are so sweet to have everything ready for just a few. We will have 200 plus tonight so you can imagine the mounds of candy sitting here. I'd like to tell you I haven't had one bite but uh, I can't say anything nice so I won't say anything! And Spider is so convincing in his Blob costume. He's not foolin' me though. I'm sure he's actually a SKELETON under all that! Happy Halloween, sweet Katie!!!!!

I don't get trick-or-treaters either. Hmmm could be all the no trespasing, not welcome here signs and the evil barking dogs. Oh and I live in the middle of no where. Oh well more candy for me.
Happy Halloween.

I used to love tootsie roll pops but they just don't taste the same anymore to me. Remebber when chocolate really tasted like chocolate and Coca Cola was the real thing and then they chnged the formula slightly. When will they learn to leave well enough alone? Spider is really healthy looking!

What an ADORABLE little (cough, cough) striped kitty! ...and looks VERY well taken care of! :-)
Hope you had some cute ghouls on H. night to give you a smile. I just KNOW you're the talk of the block ..."we've got to go to HER house!".
*
p.s. My husband gives our kitty plenty to munch on ...when I have inquired about this, he says that her "back is just short". I am 5' 2" + ... got to remember the 'plus' (he is 6' 4") ...anyway, told him, that my back is getting shorter too.
