I like lots and lots of fresh air, so I always have a window or two open somewhere in the house, no matter what the weather.
But right now it's just barely hitting on 9C (46F), and I just couldn't stand the cold anymore...
So those windows are now shut!
And I even have a jacket on - indoors!
Hood and all.
No socks though.
Or even shoes for that matter.
Because there's enough Okie in me, that I purely refuse to wear shoes unless the snow is knee-deep.
It's just a family trait, I guess.
And I refuse to turn the heater on, just on general principles. (which actually means I'm a tightwad, but I'm not admitting to that. The admitting to being part Okie is enough for now.)
So my thoughts turned to something warming, and filling, and tasty for dinner tonight.
Something that would warm the cockles of my heart, and hopefully stave off frostbite on my nekkid tootsies.
Something like.... oh, I don't know.
Chili maybe.
So here's my recipe for one of the best darn chili's you'll ever findin the grocery store.

How easy is that, eh? I'll betcha that The Pioneer Woman would be gosh-darn proud of me!
Now, on to the rest of the meal... The Old Guy has been begging and begging for some Green Onion Cakes lately and I promised to make him some with tonight's dinner.
But Chinese-style green onion cakes with homemade canned chili?
Hmmm... I don't know about that.
But maybe that's just me. I don't like mixing my metaphors, and I don't like mixing cuisines.
So, what I'm gonna do, is add some chopped green chili's and maybe some red pepper flakes along with the green onions when I make these babies... to give it more of a Southwestern flavor.

Yeehaaah! Stagg Chilli Classic is very, very good! Finally decided to try it a while back and mmmmmmm mmmmmmmm, it makes really good nachos!
I am in the same predicament - I must start my 30 day ThrowDown again I think. I have ballooned since Christmas and all my clothes are tight and uncomfortable. I have a Debutante Ball to go to in July and I need to be a nice size 14. My daughter is debuting and OMG, the dress she tried on is a Size 4!!!!!!!!!!! Lucky little lassie! She looked stunning.
Anyhoo, I promise - only weight watcher type blog recipes and pics from now on. Lets do it (again) - for real!
Cheers - Joolz
So the fact that you're getting cold means we should be getting warm, right??
Joolz, With the 30 Day Throw-Down, let's just DO it!
I have been eating much healthier, and making better choices, but I need to get out there and exercise too... *sigh*.

Pam, Yep, that's the theory anyway. ;) They've been promising rain here for the last few days, but with these temps dropping overnight the way they have been, I would think that you should begin to warm up soon!
heh heh heh and those fried little delish itmes are on your lossing weight plan? I am so glad you last on your resolve as long as I do--maybe one day!
You know what? I was hungry for some Wendy's chili and didn't go out so I mixed a can of Rotel maters with the chili and added a pound of ground beef, cooked of course and made a nice taco salad.
I hate being cold.I hate being hot! some people are never happy....
There's nothing wrong with a good can of something warm! I hate to turn on the furnace in September when the cold weather starts, but I have to wear shoes on my tile kitchen floor year round. Just can't stand the cold. So, since it's cold for you, I'm waiting for my damn 2 feet of snow to melt!
NOW who's posting food and recipes??!! xxx
LOVE your blog! just found it and I can't wait to browse around :)
