Okay, okay... I didn't exactly vote for the guy, or the other guy either (due to religious reasons) but I'm just totally rapt with the going's on right now. I would truly, dearly love to watch the inauguration of Barack Obama tonight, but I just don't know if I can hold out.
The thing is, here in Australia, they'll be showing the inauguration of the 44th president of the United States of America - starting at 11pm tonight.
That's like... an hour off midnight and it's slated to last for approximately 4 hours. Which is all fine and dandy, but I start work at 7 am tomorrow morning and as anyone who knows me can attest, I'm the kind of gal who needs my beauty sleep. Desperately. So 2 hours of sleep just won't cut it.
I'm going to hold out as long as I can and may even have a bit of a cat nap in my chair, so at least I'm pointed in the general direction of the tv set. I figure by 10:55, the stiff neck and drooling all down the front of myself will set in, so between the excruciating ache in the neck and the soaking wet chest, I'll wake myself up... and then catch the big going's on. How's that for a plan?
But... if anyone is going to record it - or knows where I can get a copy, would you mind sharing? I'll pay costs, postage, whatever is involved, because I want to watch this historic, long awaited day in America's history.

Kate--I would suspect that you will be able to find something on youtube...but I could tape it for you if you want??
I am waiting to watching the inauguration myself right now. I guess you are in that chair pointed towards the tv set at the same time. I hope you haven't started bobbing your head or drooling since it's still a couple of hours off. Maybe you are napping now and will wake refreshed to see history made. I hope you get to see it live.
I wish that I could be as excited as your are, about this whole thing. I fear that there may be trouble, as any time you put that many people in one place, tempers begin to flair or too many people have too much to drink...I will pray for a peaceful innaguration.
I didn't vote for Barack Obama, but I truly hope that he can be a "positive" in the history books. Too many people, are expecting "too much ~ too soon", and therefor, will become disappointed very quickly. Big changes don't just happen overnight - I take that back - I should have said that big changes that take place overnight are usually changes for the worse.
I pray for our Nation and her Leaders...no matter of their race, religion, or party!
Typos, typos...that should be my middle name! Inauguration - yep, that's how it's spelled!
I invite you to read Thoughts of Water on the Eve of Obama’s Inauguration, which contains the reflections of a White man (me) who grew up in racially segregated Texas.
I don't know if you made it, but it was wonderful! I even cried a little. His speech was brilliant...just as brilliant as his acceptance speech in November.
You'll be proud...!
I didn't make it through the night- there was too much head bobbing going on - but I did last until about 1am and then had to head to bed.
I'm sorry that I missed seeing (with my own eyes) history being made, but Kurichan graciously offered to tape it for me. :o)
I missed the inauguration today...I'll try and catch a bit tonight.
Yes you tube--I was thinking the same thing!!
(((Hugs to you my Friend)))

I caught some of it today....it was wonderful!! And last check...not one person had been arrested...imagine that...with all those people there! :)

They repeated it today on SBS at 12:30 this afternoon as well. And it would be on youtube ... plus if you bring up the MSN homepage, you can click right on it and see it all as well!
I thought it was quite inspiring, and felt almost proud to be an American, and relieved, so relieved to see George Bush get in that helicopter and fly away ... far, far away!!
Taped the CNN version for ya...plenty of stuff from before the whole thing because I thought you might enjoy all the commentary, etc. All the hullaballoo surrounding the whole event and all the people, etc. I haven't watched it but only scanned thru it--like I told ya the tape ran out during his speech :-( but I would assume the swearing in ceremony was before his speech, so should have that! Or you can watch the important bits on youtube and just watch the rest of the tape for fun, just like having the telly on back home in the US on CNN!
Hiya Drooley Andrews.....
Sorry you nodded off. I had life, and kids to get places, and free stuff to stand in line for with my aunt....Did anybody hear about the class action suit against Lancome, Estee Lauder, Clinique, and others? They had to give away free stuff all day all over the country and I got my share!
Hope you get to see it all and if you find a source to do that on the internet, let us know wouldcha?
Well said, Neas Nuttiness. My sentiments, exactly!
Oh you sleepy head! I should transfer, via osmosis, some of my night owl drools! And I still get up in the morning!
I was even up this morning...
Now, I'm pretty bruised and beat up; I can hardly walk or hold my head up!
I "had it out" with my brain!
I knew the inauguration was to be at noon.
I proceeded with things I had to do.
I turned the TV on at 11:57am.
WTH???
They're all at lunch??? Couldn't they do lunch AFTERWARDS I thought.
Well DUH! After watching for about 10 minutes, my brain started laughing at me!
DUMB Sh**! It was NOON EST Not Pacific time!!!

That's when the beating started!
(I did get to watch on YouTube...would have been better on the 'big screen')
Tatersmama, I can identify with you! Some mornings I wake up and my pillow looks just like your description of your shirt! LOL!
P.S. Your e-mail directions were great! Links are so simple and easy, I'm feeling stupid for not figuring it out myself! So, thanks for saving my day--my post was easy to fix!
