Project "Bra Babes"

Sharon, over at The Queen's Blog posted this on her blog today, and I wanted to share her wonderful idea and hopefully encourage y'all to do something wonderful for this cause.

CENTRAL MAINE MORNING SENTINEL SATURDAY, MARCH 14
PITTSFIELD --

Brassieres as art?

That's the idea behind a fundraiser to support breast-cancer research under way in central Maine and the organizers are looking for some creative, artistic entries.
Each entrant is asked to decorate a bra -- one of their own, a thrift store find or possibly one from a breast cancer survivor, in any outrageous manner, said event organizer Sharon Mack of Pittsfield.
And the more creative and unique, the better.

Go HERE for the complete post, and the rest of the article ... and please contact Sharon for further details...

~~
My step mother Lee, died of brain cancer on Mothers Day 1995, after having survived breast cancer for almost 15 years...
Her passion was wearing beautiful bras, but because of her prosthesis, her choices were pretty limited... so she used to embroider and embellish every bra she owned!
I just know that she would be backing this wonderful idea and I'll be attempting to decorate a bra, in her memory.
I have no creative talent at all, but I'm going to give this a go!

Oh... and don't forget to get your Mammies Grammed !

Thanks so much for helping with this project...I cannot believe how many wonderful women have stepped up to create for breast cancer. Maybe, just maybe, my granddaughter's generation will not have to fear this dreaded disease. Goddess Bless You for participating and spreading the word! Sharon

Some of these are incredible arent' they? I wish I had a creative bone in my body. My friend with breast cancer (most recent diagnosis - I have others) is doing great. And she's from MAINE! I'll pass this along to her, too. Thanks, Katie. :)

Wow, there sure is a lot of creativity out there!
A friend from my childhood got cancer and had a double mastectomy about 17 years ago. Went through the whole nine yards of chemo. She was cancer free for about 15 years.

Then it came back--in her lungs, lymph nodes and liver. The doctors gave her 20% chance of making it with another round of chemo. But she refused chemo and instead changed her diet. Big time! She started following the Hallelujah Diet (www.hacres.com). The doctor ridiculed her decision.

In January 2008, I got a letter from her. She had just had an MRI and the doctor was dumbfounded as he admitted he could not find any cancer. All her tumors had shriveled up and disappeared. I visted her about nine months after she started the Hallelujah Diet and she looked marvelous! She had lost weight (three dress sizes), her skin glowed, and she had more energy than I did. She says she will continue eating the Hallelujah Diet for the rest of her life.

My mammo is this Monday afternoon. I can barely contain my excitement of getting mashed like a pancake but I know it's something I HAVE to do. I just had the BRCA analysis done to see if I carry the breast cancer gene mutation. The results are back but have not talked to my oncologist yet. I am praying that all is ok. I don't want to pass this on to my daughter!

I've been wracking my brain, trying to come up with a cool design (those of you who know me and my creative talents are probably laughing heartily) and I've drawn up several designs that might be do-able.
Mine may not turn out to be all that I hope for, but it's going to be fun anyway!!

I'm sure that you can come up with something. Just keep the Crisco in the pantry.
Maybe you can get "your kids" to help.I bet that they would love to help out. Whip out some macaroni and some spray paint.
I should post about this too. The more people that get involved, the better.
Love you Katie Tatie!!!

Queenie, It's my pleasure! I have a friend who just had her girlie guts removed last week, after having the boobies removed last year, so any way we can get the word out is good... But your project is FANTASTIC!

Jesse, Thanks for stopping by!

Robynn, I'm just gobsmacked at the creativity ! I might just take Libby's idea and use macaroni and spraypaint...LOL!

Bz, I was laughing my arse off at "Hooters" and the Hippy one!

Homestay Mama, Aren't those bras just amazing? It makes me feel "stoopid" to even attempt one, but hey, I said I'll do it, so I WILL!!

SassyDog, I'm saying prayers for you, that everything is all clear with your tests! My friend Jen has the gene, so she went proactive and had her boobs and girlie guts removed, proactivly.
And the new boobs they gave her? Wow!! You could NOT tell them from the real deal ! They look like typical 47 yr old woman boobs!

Staci, Just DO IT! It will give you one less thing to worry about.
:-)

Libby, NO Crisco will be used in the making of my bra, I promise! I've got a cupboard full of macaroni and even have cans of gold spray paint, and the kids would have a ball, even if we didn't send in their creation !...LOL!
